Portland Film Festival includes Horror, Black Stories, Women Directors And More

The Festival programmed more independent films than any other film festival in the state last year, including more variety and diversity of experiences than any theater in Oregon. This year, there will be over 80 features and shorts.

With hundreds of visiting filmmakers, cast, and crew representing their films, it’s no wonder the film industry magazine MovieMaker named the Portland Film Festival one of the “Top 25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World.”

The Festival will announce the films, classes, and more in the first week of October.

The Portland Film Festival hub and film screenings will be in the Pearl District. Warehouse lofts and cool commercial spaces will be transformed into unique theaters and event spaces. On the east side, McMenamin’s Kennedy will host screenings from Friday the 13th to Monday the 16th, including our Award Ceremony and the Audience Award Winning Short and Feature screening.

Dedicated to Independent Voices & The City of Portland, Oregon

“As a non-profit organization dedicated to nurturing filmmakers and celebrating the power of a good story, we are proud to bring a robust and diverse community of independent voices to the Festival this year,” said Josh Leake, Portland Film Festival co-founder and executive director.

The film industry is an integral contributor to the economic well-being of Oregon and one of the best tourism generators. Where many industries like manufacturing and apparel production improve financial impact for a season, the film and creative industries continue to engage and remind people that Oregon is a beautiful place long after the cast, crew, and production team move on to other film projects.

The complete Festival line-up will be released the first week of October.
