A Quiet Place

• What we’ll do
Grab a drink and let’s go see a movie! Bring friends and some good conversation to discuss the film, its characters, the production and more. The Living Room Theater is the location of our weekly Monday meetup. Most movies they play are independent, foreign, artistic with an occasional blockbuster.

We meet Tuesday evenings to take advantage of their $6 Merry Movie special. They have weekday showings of all their movies in the 7:00 hour, and those are the showings we’re shooting for. If you see something coming up there that you’d like to recommend as our Living Room movie of the week, message me or post it on the board by Wednesday the previous week

A Quiet Place

A family lives an isolated existence in utter silence, for fear of an unknown threat that follows and attacks at any sound.
A terrifying thriller with a surprisingly warm heart, John Krasinski’s A QUIET PLACE is a monster-movie allegory for parenting in a world gone very, very wrong. A couple with kids in real life, Krasinski and Emily Blunt here play parents in a world where even the slightest noise can lead to sudden, violent death: Training their children to be self-sufficient without making a sound is as unique a challenge as, well…

Cast: Emily Blunt, John Krasinski, Noah Jupe

“A QUIET PLACE is completely gripping, and in a film fully reliant on facial communication, exquisitely acted by those amazing kids, and by Krasinski and Blunt, who’ve never been better.”
Chuck Wilson – VILLAGE VOICE

“A QUIET PLACE shreds the nerves, but it does so in a way that feels rewarding. You don’t just walk out having experienced a thrill ride, you walk out on a high, the kind of high that only comes from the best horror movies.”
Brian Tallerico – ROGEREBERT.COM

“The film hits all the necessary beats for a straightforward horror film in an eerie post-apocalyptic setting. But it’s more effective as a portrait of four people who have constructed a deceptively peaceful life under the constant, inescapable threat of death. “
Adi Robertson – THE VERGE

“Krasinski gets terrific performances from everyone: It’s a convincing family. Which is nice, in a way, despite the ghastliness of the situation.”
David Edelstein – NEW YORK MAGAZINE/VULTURE
