$6 Tuesday Meetup @ Living Room Theaters! American Valhalla

Grab a drink and let’s go see a movie! Bring friends and some good conversation to discuss the film, its characters, the production and more. The Living Room Theater is the location of our weekly Monday meetup. Most movies they play are independent, foreign, artistic with an occasional blockbuster.

We meet Tuesday evenings to take advantage of their $6 Merry Movie special. They have weekday showings of all their movies in the 7:00 hour, and those are the showings we’re shooting for. If you see something coming up there that you’d like to recommend as our Living Room movie of the week, message me or post it on the board by Wednesday the previous week

Directed by Andreas Neumann and Joshua Homme, AMERICAN VALHALLA tells the story of an extraordinary musical collaboration between two mavericks of American rock: Iggy Pop and Queens of the Stone Age front-man, Joshua Homme, who along with Andreas Neumann co-directed the film. The result was one of the best albums of 2016: Iggy’s “Post Pop Depression”. The film takes you on a journey from the conception of this musical partnership and the first demos recorded in Californian desert by – what became – the Post Pop Depression band that included Dean Fertita (QOTSA) and drummer Matt Helders (Arctic Monkeys), and onto the release of the album, proceeded by a sold-out American and European Tour that featured the epic performance at the Royal Albert Hall in London. AMERICAN VALHALLA is a crown jewel of this once-in-a-life-time kind of a project. Featuring stunning cinematography, insightful interviews and access all areas footage, the film reveals just what is means to know that if you risk nothing, you gain nothing, no matter who you are.

“Hot on the heels of Gimme Danger (2016), American Valhalla offers a further valentine to Iggy Pop, documenting every aspect of his recent collaboration with Joshua Homme on the Grammy-nominated, valedictory album Post Pop Depression. It is a polished, official version of events travelling from basic concepts to triumphant final concert and that will be sufficient for many fans. Moments of honesty and self-reflection from Iggy push the material beyond the promotional or commemorative towards the insightful.”

“The upcoming documentary American Valhalla tells the story of the collaboration between Iggy Pop and Josh Homme that yielded both the acclaimed 2016 album Post Pop Depression and the international tour that followed. In a new advance excerpt from the film, both artists reflect on what made their work together special.”
