Neighborhood Matinee and PDXFF Poster Party

Sat 9/9: MAUDIE at THE LAURELHURST THEATER at 1:30PM (Poster Party starts at approx 3:30PM)

Let’s go see a weekend matinee in a different neighborhood theater. Afterwards, let’s canvass the area around the theater and put up posters for the Portland Film Festival.

Feel free to come to the movie, come to help put up posters, or both! The movie will be Maudie, starting at 1:30PM and we’ll meet outside the theater for the Poster Party, after the movie, at approximately 3:30PM.

We’ll kick things off with a movie at the Laurelhurst Theater with a $3 matinee.

MAUDIE

MAUDIE, based on a true story, is an unlikely romance in which the reclusive Everett Lewis (Ethan Hawke) hires a fragile yet determined woman named Maudie (Sally Hawkins) to be his housekeeper. Maudie, bright-eyed but hunched with crippled hands, yearns to be independent, to live away from her protective family and she also yearns, passionately, to create art. Unexpectedly, Everett finds himself falling in love. MAUDIE charts Everett’s efforts to protect himself from being hurt, Maudie’s deep and abiding love for this difficult man and her surprising rise to fame as a folk painter.

THE LAURELHURST THEATER
2735 East Burnside St, Portland, OR 97214

The Laurelhurst Theater became part of Portland’s cultural and architectural history when it first opened in 1923. The original single screen could seat 650 people and was one of the first art deco style theaters of the period. Over the years the Laurelhurst has been added onto and now offers four auditoriums with modern amenities but still maintains its classic appeal. Now celebrating our 16th year as a theater and pub. Thank you Portland!

Enjoy microbrews, wine, pizza, salads, popcorn and candy. All of which may be brought into the auditoriums to enjoy at your table while you watch your movie. The theater’s four screens bring the best of modern cinema, Independent, art and classic film to Portland’s movie lovers. And from Oct 30-Nov 5, the Laurelhurst Theater will be the home of the Portland Film Festival!
