Portland’s fan favorite indie film festival, Portland Film Festival will be hosting its upcoming edition at the Center of Native Arts + Cultures located at SE 10th and Belmont. Over 90 films from around the world with several local films will be screened from October 1st through the 5th. Tickets are now on sale at pdxff.com.
The Festival is giving all Portlanders access to some films that may never have seen the light of day in Oregon. With independent theaters losing their stronghold in Portland, there are few opportunities for Oregonians to watch indie films. The studios reach has grown further and left many artists out of the spotlight.
The Portland Film Festival lowered its prices to ensure all Portlanders can come to the movies without concern of finances. Each advance ticket is $4 and locals can pick up a pass for as little as $40 for the chance to see all of the movies screening at this year’s festival.
In addition to screening films from around the world, the Portland Film Festival will be screening shorts and features from its Indigenous Voices film program. Every feature film and shorts block will proceed its screening with a short directed by an indigenous director at the Center.
“Supporting independent voices is more important than ever before,” says Executive Director and Found of the Portland Film Festival, Joshua Leake. “We need to come together as a community and experience stories from different perspectives. And there is no better way to understand someone’s life than watching it on film.”
The Portland Film Festival has films screening October 2-5th. On October 1st, audience members can meet visiting filmmakers at both an industry brunch held at noon or visit with filmmakers during the opening night reception with a hosted bar. Regardsless of your favorite genre, you should find many films that speak to your interests. Find out more about the films screening at pdxff.com.
